• A Little About Charlene Kay Bushur

Charlene Kay Bushur lived a full and beautiful life 12/26/1942 to 2/7/2025. Charlene was first a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, a farmer, a bus driver, a grain merchandiser, and actively involved in all aspects of the dairy including her favorites, raising baby calves and milking cows. Charlene grew up in Teutopolis, IL. She lived with her family in Green Creek and Sigel before purchasing the farm with her husband Richard in 1976 in Watson, IL. Charlene first worked for Dust and Sons. When she was out of high school, she worked with Wilbert Chamberlain for Stotler Grain, buying and selling grain in Effingham, IL. She was also a manager for Pasqually’s Pizza in Effingham, IL. Charlene later drove the school bus for Effingham until she retired. She grew up helping on her family’s dairy farm and continued dairying with Rich and the kids through 2014. She was a 4-H leader for over 15 years, celebrating the human and animal bond. She cooked for everyone that dropped by, and did all of the work the Lord gave her without ever saying a cross word or complaint about the work. Charlene loved listening to or watching the CUBS and ILLINI basketball games!!!! In her spare time, she loved making ceramics with her kids when they were young . Charlene cherished meeting her family for meals and their annual Christmas parties with their extended families. Charlene’s son, Doug and one grandson preceded her to heaven. Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband and nine children. Charlene’s grandchildren and great grandchildren will carry her kindness forward. Animals, like people, flocked to her because if there was one word that described Charlene it would be kind. She knew no strangers and she was an excellent listener who could provide you common sense solutions to problems. The best way to fix a problem was to have some ice cream and talk about it! Her horse, Holly, galloped into her life and brought her two foals, Nitro and Jolly. These three horses brought her much joy! Of her dogs, Leroy and Sassy were her welcoming committee at the house. Murray followed in their footsteps. For companions while doing chores, there was Kate, Dot, Penny, Flossy, and Buddy. Her many beloved cats kept her company out while she was outside doing chores or by the house tending to her beautiful flowers.
